In the article, the developers reassured us that it won’t be just a big map of nothing. They said that it’ll have activities and distractions from the main quests to keep you occupied and realize that a big open world map is nothing without having things to do and see.
I just hope we get alot of secret areas to find. That what made Elden Ring so fun: you have this mission planned out in your head, then you go out into the world to complete that mission, all of a sudden you get distracted find a cave and now you’re in the underground of the map.

Hopefully we don’t get big spaces with a whole lot of nothing. Only game that made that appealing was Assassin’s Creed Origins with the huge desert. You’d be walking through it and have biblical visions, it was really neat.

The time when map size mattered was around the time original Oblivion got released. Nowadays it’s limited to specific genres or game ideas, like Death Stranding 2 where big areas make the journey meaningful or Fallout 4 where the map is still too small due to the density of locations.
The maps are so big in current games devs struggle to think them out properly and fill with unique content. Instead we get 5 types of locations that are basically the same gameplay wise (Far Cry, Asassin’s Creed, Ghost of Yotei). I’d rather have F:New Vegas map, it was not that big, but every location was rewarding with unique experience.

The guy addressed that in the first like 8 sentences. They are stating it will be full of content. Whether or not it comes through we will see at release.

I really liked the combat of Black desert online but practically everything else in it turned me off. Overly complicated trade and caravan mechanics, grindy and p2w aspects etc.
If crimson desert can put that combat in a competent single player game without some of that baggage it sounds fun. Doesn’t even have to be great, just a mid game with good combat would be enough for me.
I’m not preordering though. We will see in march

I want this to be a great game. But I’ve read about the control setup. Apparently there’s dozens of combo button presses for every kind of oddball and stylish melee attack and defense move.
I guess that can be cool for some people, but it seems more like a Devil May Cry standard versus an RPG. Perhaps that’s what they are going for? Many people enjoy that, but I do not.
Of course, we won’t know until the game is released. I am definitely waiting on reviews before buying this.
